How the different generations view other generation’s use of time is also very telling. Just one example comes to mind and that is the use of multi-tasking that the younger generations have mastered, while the older generations Boomers and Traditionalists often view multi-tasking as not doing something well because of the lack of focused attention to the task at hand.
This brings up the second aspect and that is work ethic. Work ethic and time management are often seen as kissing cousins as one generation perceives another generation’s work ethic by their use of time management.
Talk about a time bomb in so many arenas when the various generations have to work together. As I mentioned in the aforementioned paragraph the art of multi-tasking to one generation is a given where as another generation frowns on it and makes judgments as to the quality of work as a result. This is often an area of contention because the end result to one generation is the goal whereas another generation views the process as the goal. This has often resulted in division and lack of cooperation when projects were needed to be completed. As Mary indicated earlier in this book we are working on all generations working on the concept “NOT WRONG, just DIFFERENT”.
