We have been called to share God’s love and acceptance for who we are and where we are in life. Our message is a call to have a change of heart. It is not an attempt to change outward appearances or create a façade. If you are a leader, pastor, manager, entrepreneur, employee, volunteer, etc., this book will help you develop new relationships in the workplace and your personal life.
You can be a lifeline; just as a lifeline is thrown to a drowning person to save their life, you can make a difference. You may have to put aside your preconceived notions about where a prospective mentee is when you first work with them. They are a work in progress, just as you are. Lifelines thrown to drowning people have one purpose: to save that person’s life. This is not an opportunity to judge the person’s merits, lifestyle, or biases. A lifeline is just that, “a lifeline.”
So, what exactly is a lifeline? The English Thesaurus defines it as salvation, link, help, support, and a helping hand, and sustenance. Further looking into the Word is service, favor, good deed, kindness, or charitable act. Links can be defined as connection, relation, association, relationship, linkage, tie, and bond. Connect is defined as relating, associating, bringing together, linking up, and networking. Support connotes hold up, carry sustain, maintain, shore up, and keep up. Salvation is based on rescue, recovery, and deliverance.
With all this being said, you are being asked to be a lifeline. This role should be undertaken if you care and want to invest in the future of Zoomers. They have been slammed; they are floating amid a sea of uncertainty and may feel they have little hope. Everything solid feels like it has been taken from them; all that is left is people’s opinions,
which change like the wind. On any given day, something someone thought was true can now be politically incorrect and subject to change, leading them to be ridiculed for their
belief in it. It is not surprising that the number of suicides, homicides, and cases of mental illness is rising at astounding rates.
Every generation has faced challenges, but Zoomers have no solid foundation to lean on, and because of the constantly shifting sands of opinion, they are especially vulnerable to criticism and public opinion. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and a multitude of other sites are constantly warring for the minds and hearts to redefine who they are and what they are led to believe. We can offer a lifeline in ways we could not give in the past. With our ability to reach people through technology, we melt away The Gen Z L.I.F.E.L.I.N.E. the boundaries that prevented us from being effective in the past. Zoomers are our future business owners, employers, and employees, but their future could be bleak if they do not have someone willing to pour their life into them. You can make a difference, but it will cost you time, energy, and caring for someone’s future. Are you willing? If yes, then read on….DIFFERENT, therefore WRONG, or NOT WRONG, just DIFFERENT Different, therefore Wrong, is a self-limiting view of the world. Any difference is seen as a problem, mistake, etc.
“My way is best; look, it works just fine.” That may be true for you, but everyone else is not you!
Not wrong, just different is offering the willingness to learn. The interest in another individual’s approach to a method, solving a problem, etc. “I do it this way, tell me how your way works for you.”
