The Gen Y’s have been pampered by their Boomer parents. They have been raised by a generation of “soccer moms.” The Gen Y’s are the fastest growing generation in the workforce today. This generation does not expect to work with one employer for life. They have great career expectations and a desire to make a difference immediately. They want meaningful work and a solid learning curve. They can, with a click of mouse let thousands of their friends know about how their companies are doing.

They are very misunderstood. They crave attention and feedback. Again, this can be viewed as narcissistic, but let’s look again at how they were raised. They were nurtured and cared for at an intensity level not seen in prior generations. We will get into the idea of Transference later in the book, but this is what is at play here with our Gen Y’s and their managers/coworkers.
