So you find it awkward to write a Recommendation? LinkedIn has introduced a new feature dubbed “Endorsements” in which users can endorse members of their professional networks.
The Endorsements feature is essentially another form of offering a reference on a LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn has Recommendations where members can write testimonials about people in their networks. Endorsements focus on specific skill sets that the member has. They gives more credibility to skills and expertise listed on a profile
LinkedIn already has programmed recommended endorsements on profile pages, so at a base level, all you have to do is go in and confirm them with just one click. You can suggest more skills and expertise qualities for your contacts on your own. LinkedIn will send email updates as to who endorsed you and what skill sets they endorsed you on your profile.
Be honest and fair when making Endorsements. LinkedIn has a feature where you can endorse 4 people at a time. Only endorse the skills and expertise that you are confident that this individual portrays. Resist the temptation to click on choosing all in that window.
Also, make sure that the Experience area and Endorsements area compliment one another. Use the same keywords in your endorsements section in the narratives of the Experience section.
Remember the give first principle, Endorse others to gain endorsements from them!
